Not too shabby considering we had taken the whole week off from running due to various injuries (my foot and back nerve.) We also had not been running as much as would be typical for a run this duration. We did manage to finish without stopping, and at altitude (5200 ft [1585 m]) too! J had been in front of me for most of the run and he slowed and reached back to hold my hand for the finish and some woman totally knocked us out of the way to cross before us. Nice, eh? Too bad she didn't get a medal in her age group and we both did! Ha!

The Nike thing said I did 3.89 miles, but I think it was less. It was a hard workout, the last push to the 7/8 felt that hard in the heat but I'm sure I wasn't running much faster at that point than the 5/6 phase. Still, it felt good and was definitely a challenge to my normal steady-state runs.

We pushed a little hard in the first half, at least to me it seemed like we did. Then as I slowed, a girl in a yoga shirt and her bf started to pass us and I couldn't let that happen. Ack, this was one of the worst workouts! I got the crappy treadmill at the hotel gym, it felt like it was inclined even at the 0% level so my legs were cramping. It was humid and HOT. I was sweating copiously. I couldn't keep up with running and I gave up and went to drink some water in my much cooler hotel room. Blah.

It was kinda hard, I was fighting a cramp and didn't have sunglasses but the cramp went away when I stopped to stare at the teeny tiny little ducklings in the lake. Then a mean lady told me they wouldn't make it b/c they are not meant to be in saltwater. Wah!

The weather could not have been more perfect. As we were standing around for the race start, I knew that I would not need my hoody-thing but there was no time to stash it so it ended up around my waist at ~8 minutes. It was a good run, but boy, my legs knew when I hit 40 minutes! A nice flat run though. Yay!

Treadmill: 20 minutes, 3.5% incline, 6.1-7.0 mph, 2.17 miles
Elliptical: 30 minutes
Average HR: Well, wouldn't that be nice to know. I think I need to return my HRM, it screwed up for the first 6 minutes, reading twice what it should and then at some point during the workout started reading half what it should. Grrr.
I pushed on the treadmill because the gym was crowded and I knew I would only get the 20 minutes.

It felt much better this time. I did a 20 minute run and two 5 minute runs while really pushing it. Is that the wrong approach? If I can't do it continuously, maybe I'm pushing too hard?

Elliptical: 20 minutes
Average HR: somewhat unknown, 169 for the elliptical, HR monitor was fussy during the run
Some random weights, I cannot do any type of pullup whatsoever and I never have been able to. Should this be a goal?

Elliptical: 15 minutes
Recumbent bike: 4 minutes
This was not a good workout day. The HR monitor went a little nuts after about 15 minutes and started reading half the rate. I think the average was ~164, maybe. And I was hungry as I was driving to the gym so I think I just ran out of steam. But at least I went, a bad workout's better than no workout, right?

I am stuck at this level, it's killing me. My HR gets to 180ish. A plateau, perhaps? Too strenuous, perhaps?

Average HR: 173 (may be skewed, the HRM said 215 initally and there was no way that was accurate.)
