I used my new heart rate monitor. I just wanted to check that I really am working hard, and it turns out, I'm not working as hard as I thought. Sigh. I had to pump up the speed to get in the "zone."

Not too shabby considering we had taken the whole week off from running due to various injuries (my foot and back nerve.) We also had not been running as much as would be typical for a run this duration. We did manage to finish without stopping, and at altitude (5200 ft [1585 m]) too! J had been in front of me for most of the run and he slowed and reached back to hold my hand for the finish and some woman totally knocked us out of the way to cross before us. Nice, eh? Too bad she didn't get a medal in her age group and we both did! Ha!
